Worthwhile Talent focuses on strengthening the social connections among Talentonians through an organized exchange of goods, services, and skills.
The core of that is the Community Exchange.

The Community Exchange has found a temporary home!

Over the next month we will be setting up a small shop close the library. Membership will be open to Talent area residents in need of free clothing and other dignity essentials.

For the Community Exchange we envision not only sharing clothes and shoes, but also a lively exchange of favors, time, wisdom, inspiration, connections, and other non-tangible but vital community resources that can help people get beyond surviving and closer to thriving.

The core principle that Worthwhile Talent, and the Community Exchange specifically, is built upon is that EVERYONE has something to contribute to their community. Every single person in this town has old clothes or spare time or practical skills that could help someone else who doesn't have it.  Just imagine all the ways we could be helping each other with what we all know, have, and can do!

For now we are focusing the Community Exchange on what we call dignity essentials - clothes, shoes, bedding, towels, and hygiene items - until Worthwhile has a permanent indoor space to call home and we can expand our offerings. The goal for 2025 is to ensure that the shorter term basic clothing needs of Food Pantry recipients are met without having to spend money that could be used for food, utilities, fuel, and other survival needs.

About the Community Exchange

Dec 2025 Update

In May 2025, The Walker Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation awarded Worthwhile Talent with an $11,000 grant to provide support to low-income Talent residents. The Community Exchange will now be able to provide Talent with a free volunteer-run exchange of donated clothing, shoes, and bedding.  THANK YOU!
