Worthwhile Donation Needs for April 2026

Hello friends! This is a list of what items we will be most happy about receiving this month. That doesn't mean we won't take other stuff! We definitely need other stuff! It just means these are what are in high demand but low supply as we head into early summer.

Donations can be brought to the Mercantile (102 Home St) on Mondays 3-6 or Saturdays 10-1.
FOOD
Canned Fruit
Canned Spinach
Canned Olives
Dried Fruit
Whole Grains - Quinoa, Barley, Millet, Brown Rice
Special Diet items - i.e. gluten-free, low-sodium, no added sugar
Shelf-Stable Whole Milk

Bottled Water Notes on food:
-We cannot take perishable foods such as refrigerated or frozen items at this time. -We cannot take bulk foods or homemade items. Food items must be labelled and have an expiration date visible.
-Opened packages are accepted if items inside are individually wrapped, i.e. granola bars, tea bags, hot cocoa packets.

Notes on Personal Care:
-We cannot take any hygiene products that are not labelled.
-We WILL take most products that have been opened and only slightly used, like lotions and shampoos.
-We can also take most items in an opened package if the items are individually wrapped, i.e. menstrual supplies.
HOUSEHOLD:
Toilet Paper
Paper Towels
Disinfectant Cleaning Wipes
Baking Soda
Dishwasher Detergent/Tabs
Laundry Detergent/Pods/Sheets
Liquid Dish Soap

Notes on Household Products:
-We cannot take any cleaning products that are not labelled.
-We WILL take products that have been opened and only slightly used, such as cleaning sprays and dish soap. Please do not donate if a significant amount has been used.
CLOTHING:
T-shirts
Tank Tops
Shorts
Sandals
Kids' clothes
Notes on Clothing and Shoes:
-Please do not donate stained, torn, or bad-smelling clothing. If it must be washed or repaired before anyone would take it, please launder/fix before donating.
-We cannot take clothing that has been left outside our shop overnight.
-Please keep cold weather items like heavy coats and snow boots until we get closer to the fall season.
