Help Us Find a New Home for Worthwhile Mercantile

Ideal features of the Mercantile home:

  • > 350 sq ft  shopping area

  • Storage space

  • Climate-controlled

  • Suitable for food-safe storage practices

  • Accessible to volunteers and shoppers

  • Wheelchair-accessible

  • Located in or near downtown Talent

  • Below-market rent or community-supported lease.

We are flexible and open to creative solutions, including shared spaces.

Worthwhile Mercantile opened up in February of 2026 in a converted garage at 102 Home Street.  It was never meant to be permanent, just a place to start, and we're so thankful to the City of Talent for donating the space to make that happen.

The building that the Mercantile operates out of  is now on the market;  we will be asked to vacate with 30 days notice when there is a buyer.  We are preparing now so that, when that moment comes, we can hopefully continue serving the community without interruption.  If we are unable to secure a new space in time, the Mercantile will need to pause operations until one becomes available.

Worthwhile Mercantile is not a pop-up or a short-term project.  It is a community-supported exchange  program designed to:

  • Provide access to free clothing, food, and essential goods

  • Reduce waste through local reuse

  • Offer an inclusive, welcoming space to participate in civic life

  • Strengthen connections between neighbors and their community

  • Spread the good vibes

If you know of a space that may become available, have a lead on a landlord open to community use, or are part of an organization with underutilized space, we would love to hear from you!
